“I have submitted the list to the PM, once it has approved, and then it will be presented to the President of the Republic for his approval. There are almost 10 ambassadors who had concluded their mission for quite some time, said Minister Soares to the journalists at the Government Palace Dili.
From this list, four (4) of them have been accepted by the designated countries since the VII Constitutional Government’s mandate, to be deployed to those countries.
These more than 10 Timorese diplomats will be placed in Singapore, Australia, Mozambique, Vatican, England, Washington DC and so forth.
In addition, Minister Soares has also confirmed that, from this list, some of candidates are from diplomatic career based and some of them are those who are nominated based on the political trust from VIII Constitutional Government.
However, based on the regulation, the candidate should has a sufficient experience and knowledge on the country including political knowledge and the objective of the state in order to be able to represent the country in the external level. This is also including loyalty and other criteria to be agreed by the Prime Minister.
“We are now in the process of preparing the classification of our embassies from the first class, second class and third class. This classification will definitely affect the duration of the mission of each of the ambassadors, said Minister Soares.
